Gosper succeeded Mike Miller as chief executive of the International Rugby Board (IRB) and managing director of Rugby World Cup Ltd in 2012, tasked with overseeing Sevens' development into an Olympic sport and the build-up to Rugby World Cup 2015.
A former Australia trialist and Racing Club de France player, Gosper combined his playing career with a day job in advertising, beginning with Ogilvy & Mather Paris in 1981. He later served BDDP (TBWA), Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper, McCann Erickson NY, USA and Europe and TBWA New York Group in various capacities before accepting a role with the IRB. He is the son of Kevan Gosper, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
