Australia could be without David Pocock for next weekend's Bledisloe Cup rematch after the talismanic flanker picked up a knee injury.

The openside suffered the problem in Saturday's 27-19 loss to the All Blacks in Sydney, although he was able to finish the game.

Wallabies boss Robbie Deans will likely turn to Reds scrum-half Will Genia as skipper should Pocock be ruled out after scans on Sunday.

"There's a possibility he may be unavailable," Deans told AFP. "I saw him being assessed and had a quick yarn with him. He came back and he was good. He said he had no problem carrying on and that's what he did."

New Zealand's sole injury concern surrounds veteran loose-head Tony Woodcock, who suffered a rib injury at ANZ Stadium.
