All Blacks fly-half Colin Slade could miss the rest of the Super Rugby season after he suffered a serious injury whilst playing for the Highlanders against the Brumbies.

Slade, whose World Cup campaign was cut short by a groin injury, reportedly suffered a fracture to his left ankle during the Highlanders' 33-26 defeat to the Brumbies. He was taken to Canberra hospital and is expected to have an operation on the injury in the coming days.

The injury looks to have ended Slade's hopes of being involved in New Zealand's Rugby Championship campaign and potentially their end-of-the-season tour to the northern hemisphere. The Highlanders are already without fly-half Lima Sopoaga, who is sidelined for two months with a shoulder injury.
