New South Wales Waratahs and Australia second-row Kane Douglas will join Irish province Leinster at the end of the Super Rugby season, a decision which will probably see him rule himself out of the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Douglas, who has played 14 Tests for the Wallabies, is reported by News Corp to be finalising his release with the Australian Rugby Union. The Waratahs forward will become the second young second-row in as many weeks to quit Australian rugby, with Hugh Pyle having already announced he was leaving Melbourne Rebels for France. Wallabies captain Ben Mowen is also departing Australia for France at the end of the year.

Leinster are due to confirm their first batch of signings and contract extensions for 2014-2015 on Tuesday, but franchise officials have not confirmed whether Douglas is on the list. The Sunday Times has reported, however, that Douglas will be joining the province.
