Chiefs sign Southland prop Nick Barrett
October 25, 2013
Nick Barrett has signed for the Chiefs, joining Southland team-mates Robbie Robinson and Jamie Mackintosh at the two-time defending Super Rugby champions, after earning selection on Monday in the Maori All Blacks squad to tour North America.
The prop has been taken aback by both developments, as he has had an inconsistent season for Southland in the ITM Cup due to Achilles tendinitis and hamstring issues, and he hope to fast-track his development after injuries cruelled his hopes of game time during a two-year stint with the Crusaders.
"It's all happened all of a sudden, it's been an awesome week," Barrett told Fairfax Media.
