Cory Jane faces a race against time to be fit for All Blacks selection after he suffered a hand injury in Wellington's ITM Cup win over Taranaki.

Jane has a point to prove to the All Blacks management after he was left out of Graham Henry's original Tri-Nations squad. The 23-cap winger started for Wellington against Taranaki but was forced to leave the field in the 48th minute. Jane originally tried to play through the pain but the true extent of his injury became apparent later on when he revealed on Twitter that he was forced to go to hospital to have it treated.

Jane said on Twitter "Damn it...bone came out of my finger..Off to the hospital now.. did u see me trying to tackle with one arm haha," This was soon followed by "Got to the hospital and they put me in a wheelchair haha...It's only my finger....I still sat in it tho and they pushed me haha."

Jane is sure to be ruled out of Wellington's immediate ITM Cup campaign and will hope coach Graham Henry will give him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the selection of the final 30-man squad for the World Cup. Wellington's next game in the ITM Cup is against Auckland on July 23 while the All Blacks face Fiji in Dunedin on July 22.
