South Africa's Eben Etzebeth will miss his side's Rugby Championship clash with New Zealand this weekend after being handed a two-week suspension for headbutting Australia's Nathan Sharpe. Etzebeth was cited in the wake of the Boks' 26-19 defeat in Perth on Saturday night after video replays showed him launching his head towards his Wallabies rival. Referee Nigel Owens only issued a warning to both players at the time but upon further review of the match footage the citing commissioner deemed the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play and therefore warranted further investigation. The 20-year-old Etzebeth faced a SANZAR hearing via videoconference on Monday and was found guilty of contravening Law 10.4 (a) regarding punching or striking an opponent and subsequently handed a two-week sanction that runs until September 24. South Africa have stated that they will not appeal the ban. © ESPN EMEA Ltd
