Former South Africa coach Peter de Villiers has been named director of rugby at the University of the Western Cape. Having left his post with the Springboks following their quarter-final exit at last year's Rugby World Cup, the 55-year-old will now oversee all levels of rugby at the university, located in Bellville. De Villiers had been tipped for an ambassadorial role with the South African sports ministry before confirming his latest move. "The university has gained a good reputation academically and they now want me to help lift the standards of their sport," De Villiers told Supersport. "I've been officially involved with the university since the start of the month but we are only in a position to announce my involvement now. "It's good to be working again and great to have a hands-on role in the sport I love." © ESPN EMEA Ltd
