Leicester Tigers tight-head Martin Castrogiovanni is set to become the latest big name recruit for Top 14 leaders Toulon ahead of next season, according to reports.

Reports in French paper La Provence claim that the 31-year-old is on the verge of agreeing to join the Top 14 club in what looks set to be another active spell in the transfer market for the big spenders. Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal has already hinted strongly that Bryan Habana will line up for his side next year and it appears that Castrogiovanni could well join him.

If he were to agree to a move to Toulon, then he would have to vie with former All Black Carl Hayman for the tight-head berth with the 33-year-old recently putting pen to paper on a new two-year deal at the French side.

The newspaper also claims that John Smit's rumoured transfer to Toulon is a done deal with the Springboks captain penning a one-year contract. And the reports also claim that Toulon are closing in on Racing Metro hooker Benjamin Noirot, his team-mate centre Virimi Vakatawa and Bath scrum-half Michael Claassens.
