Italy have made one change for their Six Nations clash with Scotland on Saturday with centre Gonzalo Canale replacing the injured Alberto Sgarbi.
Coach Jacque Brunel has kept faith with the side that claimed a shock 23-18 victory over France last weekend with Sgarbi being forced to make way having picked up an ankle injury in their memorable Stadio Olimpico triumph.
As a result Canale, who has recovered from a thigh injury suffered in the same game, is promoted from the replacements for what will be his first start since last year's Six Nations with Zebre's Gonzalo Garcia coming onto the bench. Veteran prop Andrea Lo Cicero is also in line to join the exclusive 100 Test cap club.
Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) president Alfredo Gavazzi has urged his side to build on their opening victory and capitalise on the spike in interest generated by that result. "Winning against France was simply incredible," said Gavazzi, "but we have to keep working and confirm the progress we have made in the last year.
"In thirteen years of Six Nations rugby we have won just one match outside Italy and that tells you how hard it has been for us to get results miles from home. But we are here to show we are a competitive side and to try and get wins at every opportunity with the next one here in Scotland.
"Our only away win came in Edinburgh back in 2007 and while we fought hard for a deserved victory, it was decided by three episodes that all turned in our favour and brought us three tries in the first 20 minutes. Saturday will be a very different match with both teams playing a competent rugby and Scotland will be the favourites because they always play 110% at Murrayfield."
Italy: Andrea Masi; Giovanbattista Venditti, Tommaso Benvenuti, Gonzalo Canale, Luke McLean; Luciano Orquera, Tobias Botes; Andrea Lo Cicero, Leonardo Ghiraldini, Martin Castrogiovanni, Quintin Geldenhuys, Francesco Minto, Alessandro Zanni, Simone Favaro, Sergio Parisse (captain)
Replacements: Davide Giazzon, Alberto De Marchi, Lorenzo Cittadini, Antonio Pavanello, Paul Derbyshire, Edoardo Gori, Kristopher Burton, Gonzalo Garcia.
