Bath prop David Wilson has been drafted into England's elite player squad in place of Matt Stevens.

Saracens prop Stevens opted to call time on his international career back in August claiming that he was unable to commit to the World Cup in three-years time and England boss Stuart Lancaster has promoted Wilson from the Saxons to the main squad.

Wilson won the last of his 19 caps for England back in September 2011 against Romania and was a part of their World Cup party the same year. He was included in Lancaster's England squad for the 2012 Six Nations but failed to make a single appearance.

Wilson's promotion to the main squad has resulted in Sarries prop Mako Vunipola getting the nod into the Saxons after a barnstorming start to the season that saw him scoop the man-of-the-match award in their first two matches.

Lancaster is now focused on preparing England for their four match November Test series and he will journey to South Africa next month to watch the Springboks play the All Blacks. "The three sides we are playing from the Rugby Championship all play very differently," Lancaster said. "We are going to have to have a different gameplan to suit each side we play and adapt from game to game.

"New Zealand are the form side but they have been pushed, not only in the summer by Ireland, but also Argentina and South Africa in the last Test. There are some great challenges coming around the corner and it is great to benchmark ourselves."
