Irish referee George Clancy will officiate Northampton's Heineken Cup semi-final against Perpignan at stadium:mk on May 1.
It was the second big appointment this week for the 34-year-old after he was selected to referee the World Cup opener between New Zealand and Tonga on September 9. However he has not always avoided controversy as he caused animosity among Ospreys fans during last year's quarter finals as he refused to award the Welsh region a penalty during their defeat by Biarritz.
The other semi-final between Leinster and reigning champions Toulouse at the Aviva Stadium on April 30 will be refereed by England's Dave Pearson, who was selected alongside Clancy to officiate at the World Cup. Leinster beat Premiership champions Leicester to reach the last four while Toulouse defeated Biarritz after extra time in San Sebastian.
Frenchman Romain Poitre will referee Harlequins' Amlin Challenge Cup semi-final against Munster at Thomond Park on April 30, while Wales' Nigel Owens will officiate Stade Francais against Clermont Auvergne on April 29 .
