Cardiff Blues chairman Peter Thomas has promised to sign three or four internationals for next season - although Gethin Jenkins will not be among them. The Blues have won just two of their last 13 matches, with their most recent defeat coming against the Scarlets in the RaboDirect Pro12 clash on Friday. But the Cardiff chairman is optimistic there are better times ahead after Wales winger Alex Cuthbert committed his future to the Welsh region and with a number of top targets lined up for next season. "They will be coming to the Blues next season from outside Wales," he said. "We are well down the road towards concluding negotiations and I think the supporters will be very pleased." However, Jenkins will not be among them despite Cardiff's desire to re-sign the Wales international prop back, who has struggled to settle in France and so far played second fiddle to former England prop Andrew Sheridan in the Toulon first team. "We tried very, very hard to get Gethin back. He hasn't settled in France and he wanted to come back to the Blues. Unfortunately, I think we have gone as far as we are able to go." © ESPN EMEA Ltd
