South Africa players spat at after Sevens win
December 9, 2013
It has been claimed that New Zealand supporters spat at members of the winning Springbok Sevens team after they beat the All Blacks in the IRB Sevens World Series final in Port Elizabeth.
SuperSport journalist Brenden Nel, who was at the stadium reporting on the tournament, wrote on his Twitter account: "Bok Sevens team members tell how they were sworn at and spat at by South African All Black supporters on their victory lap. Classy."
South Africa has had a number of issues with crowd behaviour this year. In May a spectator died after fighting after a Super Rugby match between Sharks and Rebels at Kings Park in Durban.
There have also been problems in Cape Town where there is a strong following for New Zealand which has led to incidents during Super Rugby matches in the city.
