Hayes hoping to be fit for Wales clash
March 27, 2000

Ireland's tight-head prop John Hayes is hopeful he will be fit to play against Wales at Lansdowne Road next Saturday after picking up an injury playing for his club Shannon.
Hayes has a groin strain and Ireland team manager Donal Lenihan said: "He says that he is sure he will be okay, but we'll have a good look at him when the squad convenes in Greystones tonight."
Shane Horgan, who played on the right wing against Scotland and Italy, will have a fitness test on his damaged knee during the squad's private training session in County Wicklow tomorrow.
The squad for the Six Nations Championship clash is set to be announced on Wednesday.
