IRFU Launch "Club Ireland" Sevens Championship
Dublin
March 27, 2000

Club rugby players are being given the opportunity to represent Ireland in a major seven-a-side initiative by the IRFU.
An All Ireland Club Sevens Championship is being launched and the winners will be rewarded with the prize of representing "Club Ireland" in the Benidorm Sevens tournament in Spain.
As well as the incentive for the club players to represent Ireland, the new championship will also offer a £12,000 prize fund. The eight Provincial qualifiers will each receive £500, with an additional £400 at the National play-off stage to the fourth placed club; £600 to third place and an extra £1,000 to the runners up.
The All Ireland Club Sevens will be run on a Provincial-qualifying basis, leading to the National final play-offs at Lansdowne Road.
The event is open to all clubs affiliated to the IRFU but provincial and national contracted players are excluded from the competition
