O'Gara retained in unchanged team
March 1, 2000
Warren Gatland has named an unchanged side for Ireland's Six Nations clash with Italy on Saturday.
Gatland has resisted the claims of David Humphreys for the No.10 shirt after the Dungannon player's heroics as a replacement against the Scots.
O'Gara, who was replaced in the second half of that game had a good run out for Cork Constitution in their win over Lansdowne last Saturday and will start his second successive test. Humphreys is named amongst the replacements, as is Dion O'Cuinneagain and paddy Johns, who both played against Scotland 'A' two weeks ago.
Full back Girvan Dempsey has recovered from his broken nose, allowing Mike Mullins to return to the centre where he will partner Brian O'Driscoll.
Ireland team: 15 -Girvan Dempsey (Terenure College); 14 -Shane Horgan (Lansdowne), 13 -Brian O'Driscoll (Blackrock College), 12 -Mike Mullins (Young Munster), 11 -Denis Hickie (St. Mary's College); 10 -Ronan O'Gara (Cork Constitution), 9 -Peter Stringer (Shannon);
