Eales to take on the kicking duties again
February 29, 2000

Reds skipper John Eales could once again be handed the kicking duties despite his lack of enthusiasm for the role as John Connolly aims to pick up the pieces after their demoralising 50-13 loss to the Highlanders.

Eales will resume the role if Connolly, as expected, reshuffles the Reds backline, who were cut to shreds in the first round, for their next clash against the Wellington Hurricanes on Saturday.

It is thought that flyhalf Shane Drahm will be dropped after his defensive frailties were exposed with Elton Flatley to take the No.10 shirt and Eales the kicking responsibility.

It is almost certain that Tim Horan will return to the inside centre position after recovering from his foot injury.
