Randell to play openside flanker for the Otago Highlanders
February 2, 2000
All Black skipper Taine Randell will play at openside flanker in the Highlanders' warm-up game against the Hurricanes on Thursday evening. The selection looks like a clear hint to new All Black coach Wayne Smith that Randell wishes to move from No.8. It is, however, unlikely that the move will be a permanent one as Josh Kronfeld will take that position once he returns from injury.
