Nesdale facing injury lay off
Newcastle
January 12, 2000

Only 24 hours after being named in Ireland's Six Nations squad hooker Ross Nesdale has been told that he may miss the rest of the season due to a neck injury.
The Auckland born Newcastle player suffered a knock on his neck in the Tetley's Bitter cup win over Moseley at the beginning of the month, which has caused some numbness in his arm over the last week. He missed last Saturday's European Shield game against Aurillac and is now due to see a specialist later in the week.
The 13 times capped Nesdale believes the problem may be related to a disc, which mould mean surgery and the possibility that he sits out the rest of the season.
If he were to withdraw from the Ireland squad it is likely that Cork Constitution's Frank Sheehan would fill the replacement hooker's berth on the Ireland side behind Keith Wood. Sheehan has also been Wood's understudy on the Munster side this season.
