January 11, 2000
Former South Africa and Natal captain Gary Teichmann will return to his former home in June to play one last game.
He will appear for his new club Newport in a game organised to pay tribute to the Springbok favourite.
The game, hosted by the Natal Rugby Union, will take place on June 3 at impressive the Kings Park stadium
Natal Rugby Union CEO Brian van Zyl said, "This is an opportunity to honour his service and dedication to the game of rugby. Natal rugby enjoyed being part of Gary's career...and it is fantastic for us to host Gary and his current club."
Teichmann, who joined the Welsh club after he was dropped from the Springbok squad for the World Cup last year, was looking forward to going back.
"It is a great opportunity for Newport to come out to South Africa and experience playing in front of the Natal supporters. I have enjoyed my time at Newport so far and am looking forward to playing again in Durban," he said.
