Northampton redevelopment plans halted
January 6, 2000
Northampton owner Keith Barwell is said to be angered by Northampton District Council's decision to refuse outline planning permission of the Franklin Gardens ground.
Barwell has threatened to move the Saints away from the town if his £6m plans are blocked. Development has been put on hold until a report has been filed on flooding problems.
On the field, Northampton meet Grenoble in a crucial European Cup game on Sunday and they will be without full-back Nick Beal.
A knee injury sustained against Wasps last week means he will be out of action for 4-6 weeks.
