Cardiff deny tactical postponement
Cardiff
January 5, 2000

Cardiff have denied suggestions that their game against Neath on Monday was cancelled in an effort to rest key players before Saturday's crunch European game against Montferrand.
Spokesman Alec Evans refuted such claims, saying "We can dispel those suggestions that we wanted a rest before facing Montferrand because we were very anxious to play the game. We had made 10 changes to ensure everybody was getting a game, so the players were raring to go."
Cardiff had been criticised by Neath coach Lyn Jones for the late postponement of the match, while some spectators believed the game should have been called off on Sunday, as the pitch was clearly suffering the effects of the downpour over the previous few days.
However Evans claimed the decision was not in the hands of the club. "We have found ourselves between a rock and a hard place over this matter," he said. "In the end, we had to leave the decision to the professional judgement of the referee."
