Nones' Colomiers teammates air their support
December 11, 1999
Players from French club Colomiers on Saturday showed their support for disgraced prop Richard Nones, who was banned for two years earlier in the week for eye-gouging.
The players, a large number of whom took Colomiers to last year's European Cup final defeat to Ulster, wore white tee-shirts with 'Richard we are with you' on the front and 'injustice' written on the back ahead of their European Cup Pool 4 match with Munster.
On Wednesday, the European Rugby Cup's appeals committee dismissed Nones' attempt to overturn the ban that was imposed after he was sent off for gouging the eyes of Sven Cronk during last month's clash with Welsh side Pontypridd.
When the Lions toured South Africa in 1974, some thought rugby could break down barriers. But John Taylor refused to make the trip altogether
