Blackadder moving to Japan?
Canterbury
October 28, 1999

Newspaper reports in New Zealand are linking Todd Blackadder with a move to Japan in the near future.
The Canterbury Crusaders and ex All Black back five forward is only one of two players yet to re-sign a contract with the Canterbury union (the other is no 8 Steve Surridge ). Blackadder has captained the last 2 Super 12 winning Crusaders' sides and has apparently had talks with the Tokyo-based NEC Company.

His loss would be a blow to New Zealand rugby, he is a popular player throughout the country and many people feel that John Hart has poorly treated him in the past two years. His omission from the World Cup squad may have convinced Blackadder of the need to pursue his career overseas.
