Fijian player loses contract in France

A top French club has pulled out of a contract for Fiji speedster Fero Lasagavibau that he was due to take up after the competition.
The club, USA Perpignan, has not stated a reason for the pull out which the player's agent Franck Boivert said was "sudden and disappointing".
Boivert said that the club made its decision known right before Fiji played France in Toulouse in its third pool match, and believed Fiji's poor performance against Namibia and Canada could be to blame.
Lasagavibau was offered the contract that was initially drawn up for crack centre Viliame Satala, but cancelled after Satala signed with Waisale Serevi's club Mont de Marsan.
Meanwhile, big Joeli Veitayaki has secured an 8-month contract with the Racing Club de France in Paris.
Jacques Foroux, the coach of the French team that played in the finals of the 1987 World Cup, manages the club.
"Jacques has been wanting Joe Veitayaki for quite some time and now finally he was able to secure the player to play for his club for the next 8 months," said Boivert.
