Pelous cited for stamping
Dublin
October 18, 1999

French second row Fabien Pelous has been cited for a stamping incident in the match against Fiji on Saturday.
Team manager Jo Maso has confirmed of the citation and is awaiting details of Pelous hearing.
Pelous becomes the latest in a long list of players who have visited the disciplinary committee during the tournament, and although Maso believes the player could receive a ban of up to 40 days he is still protesting Pelous' innocence.
Having watched the video of the game again Maso claimed "The referee was within two metres of the incident and took no action.... there was no stamping action this was simply rucking".
The referee Paddy O'Brien is already at the centre of controversy surrounding the match, with Fijian hooker Greg Smith claiming France were wrongly awarded a penalty try, and that a legitimate Fijian try was disallowed.
