Leslie loses fitness fight
Troon
October 13, 1999

Scotland centre John Leslie will take no further part in the tournament.
The New Zealand born centre injured his ankle in Scotland's opening match against South Africa, but was hoping to return to action for the knock out stages.
However the ankle strain is not responding to treatment and Scotland squad doctor Ken MacKenzie said, "in spite of intensive physiotherapy the sprain in his left ankle will take up to six weeks to heal".
This is clearly a massive blow to the Scots, as they build toward their quarter final play off next Wednesday, followed possibly by a quarter final against the All Blacks.
Scots' coach Jim Telfer called the news, "a big blow" but said he would delay naming a replacement until the weekend.
