Vaccari looking forward to England clash
Rome
September 23, 1999

Italy's top try scorer, Paolo Vaccari, feels that his side could put the difficulties of the last six months behind them in the World Cup, and can not wait to face England on October 2 at Twickenham.
"For us that match embodies the true spirit of the RWC. Playing England, in Twickenham, for both teams' World Cup opening, is something I personally am very much looking forward to."
"Italy has had a difficult year, but this is the time to put the past behind us and focus on the matches. We know that individually we are unable to match England and the All Blacks in every position on the field, but being selected for the World Cup is a unique opportunity, we have to give more than our best".
Vaccari has already played in the 1991 and 1995 World Cups and in South Africa scored a try in each one of his games including one against England in Durban.
"Pool B is really a "pool of death", but we must go out believing we can win every match. You don't play sport if you are not convinced you can win. Italy has top class players that for a number of reasons have recently failed to perform. This is the time to get it together and show what we are capable of. Italy-England could be the perfect stage to prove that we mean business".
