British & Irish Lions trio Jonathan Sexton, Jamie Roberts and Dan Lydiate have all signed with French-based rugby club Racing Metro 92.

The new signings were announced on the official website of the Top 14 club on Monday (France time) after the transfer window closed on Saturday.

Irishman Sexton is reportedly set to be the highest-paid player in French rugby next season after the fly-half decided to leave Leinster. Sexton was a three-time European champion with Leinster and was in high demand from a number of clubs, with Racing Metro 92 signalling their intent for the upcoming season by completing a deal.

The 27-year-old will be joined by Welsh pair Roberts and Lydiate at the club as rich owner Jacky Lorenzetti further bolstered their squad.

Roberts - who plays as a centre - is an experienced campaigner and has won 53 caps for his country. He has left the Cardiff Blues to sign for the French club, while Lydiate has also traded Wales for a move to Racing Metro 92. Lydiate has moved from Newport Gwent Dragons, with the 25-year-old a crucial player in Wales' rise as a force in world rugby in recent years.

A serious ankle injury has hampered Lydiate in 2013 but, alongside Sexton and Roberts, he is fit and in Australia with the Lions squad. The first Test between the Lions and the Wallabies will take place at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Saturday.
