Ospreys winger Hanno Dirksen is set to miss the rest of the season after sustaining a serious knee injury.
The 21-year-old has featured prominently for the Welsh region this term alongside Eli Walker as the Ospreys tried to fill the void left by the departed Tommy Bowe and Shane Williams. But he has been forced to undergo surgery to repair a cartilage issue in his right knee and is set to be sidelined for around six months.
"We've spoken to several specialists and the view is it is in Hanno's best interests to have the surgery now," explained Ospreys physio Chris Towers. "We've taken a long term view on what is best for Hanno's career.
"At this stage we are probably looking at a post-op rehab process of around five to six months, it's not something we can rush."
