Winger Chris Ashton has been ruled out of England's World Cup warm-up match against Wales in Cardiff today with an ankle injury.
The Northampton wing rolled his ankle in training on Thursday and has been replaced in the starting line-up by Matt Banahan, with Delon Armitage promoted to the bench. Ashton's injury is not thought to be serious, but the England medics were not prepared to risk him playing so close to the World Cup
Ashton, who underwent knee surgery in the summer, sat out England's 23-19 victory over Wales last weekend as part of Johnson's squad rotation plans.
