Italy fly-half Craig Gower will miss the opportunity to face the country of his birth on Saturday after being ruled out for Australia's visit with a knee injury.
Gower, who represented Australia in rugby league during his days as a star of the National Rugby League, has earned 14 caps for Italy since debuting against the Wallabies last year.
The Bayonne back picked up the injury in last Saturday's 22-16 loss to Argentina in Verona, meaning he will sit out the meeting with the Wallabies.
Another Australian-born player, Luke McLean, is in the Azzurri squad.
