Sale have signed Fijian international back-rower Asaeli Boko following a trial. The 29-year-old No.8 has been training with the Sharks since September, having completed a short loan deal with Saracens. Prior to his Test bow on Fiji's 2009 November tour of the northern hemisphere he won international honours at Sevens level. "I had the pleasure of working with Asaeli on the European tour last autumn and was impressed with him," Sharks head coach Mike Brewer said. "He has been with us now training and conditioning and he has earned his contract to play for us." Brewer also confirmed that hooker Neil Briggs will captain the Sharks for the rest of the season following a long-term injury to James Gaskell. "James Gaskell will be out for 14 to 16 weeks or so, then he's got to concentrate on regaining fitness and have game time," he said. "Briggsy's going to look after the squad as captain for the rest of the season. James will captain the side if Briggsy's 'on downtime' having a week off. James will then take over again next season." © ESPN EMEA Ltd
