The Waratahs lock committed his international future to Australia when he made his debut for the Wallabies in 2011 against Samoa. His decision to play for the Wallabies may have cost him a place at the 2011 Rugby World Cup as he was then ineligible for his native Tonga and missed selection for the green and gold.
However he was called up again by the Wallabies to face Scotland and Wales in 2012. He is the brother of Tongan international Sione and Waratahs lock Lopeti.
