The development of Stephen Myler as a union outside-half has taken time but the rugby league recruit is now looked upon as Northampton's No 1. He started the 2009-10 campaign as a substitute behind Shane Geraghty but injury and some indifferent form by the London Irish signing brought him a regular starting place by mid-season.

Myler also grabbed England recognition by helping to guide the Saxons to success in the 2010 Churchill Cup, contributing 39 points during the tournament. He also enjoyed success on the domestic front by starting in Northampton's Anglo-Welsh Cup success over Gloucester in the final at Worcester.

It was a second Cup final medal having collected his first when helping Northampton to beat Bourgoin in the 2009 European Challenge Cup. He kicked all the points in a 15-3 win.

Myler switched codes in September 2006 after his rugby league career took in St Helens, Widnes and Salford. He is a member of a famous family from the 13-a-side code, father John played for Widnes, uncle Tony coached Warrington and St Helens while great-uncle Frank played for Great Britain.
