Profile

Seremaia Baikeinuku is a mercurial Fijian fly-half who is also comfortable at inside centre.

Bai was born in Nausori and attended Lelean Memorial School. He represented his country at various under-age levels before making his Fiji debut as a 21-year-old in 2000 when he came on as a replacement in a win over Japan in Tokyo.

His first two starts, against USA and Canada later that year, yielded two tries as Bai quickly went about establishing himself as a regular in the Fiji midfield over the next two years. However, he missed out on inclusion in the squad for the 2003 World Cup.

He was recalled the following year, though, and marked his return with a 12-point haul in a win over Tonga. Bai has virtually been an ever present in the Fiji starting line-up ever since, though he has been repeatedly shifted between centre and fly-half.

Indeed, he was deployed at centre throughout the pool stages of the 2007 World Cup, including the shock win over Wales in Nantes, but was then named at fly-half for Fiji's quarter-final defeat by South Africa, a game in which he contributed 10 points with the boot.

By this point, Bai was playing his club rugby in France, having signed for Clermont Auvergne in 2006. However, he left four years later, after helping Clermont win the Top 14 title, to link up with Castres.
