Profile

Cordoba lies in the geographical heart of Argentina, and as such represents a perfect platform for hosting international sport.

As far as the Olympic Stadium is concerned, it is the very epitome of the modern-day multi-purpose stadium. Its official name is the Estadio Olímpico Chateau Carreras, but the 'Olympico' part is something of a misnomer as Cordoba has never held the Olympic Games.

Nevertheless the stadium has played host to many sports in addition to rugby. Built in 1976 ahead of the 1978 FIFA World Cup, the stadium is a municipally owned facility and most of the region's major football matches are played there thanks to its 46,000 capacity.

Special stages of the Rally Argentina, which is a round of the FIA World Rally Championship, have also been held in the stadium to allow a large number of spectators to witness the action.
