Leslie to leave Japan?
Tokyo
December 3, 1999

Scotland centre John Leslie could be on his way out of Japanese Rugby with the possibility that he will either sign a contract with the Scottish Rugby Union or with English club Newcastle.
The centre, who missed most of the World Cup after suffering a ligament injury in the opening pool game against South Africa is weighing up his options and may leave Sanix in the near future.
He is due to meet with officials at the club when he returns to Japan in the next few days but it is believed that he anxious to move to Britain.
Either a Scottish contract, and a place in either Glasgow, or Edinburgh's super-district sides, or a link with the five Scotsmen already at Newcastle seem the most likely outcomes, although several other English clubs are believed to be after his signature.
As yet the player is not back to fitness following his world Cup injury, but he hopes to resume training in the near future and be fully fit for the forthcoming Six Nations series.
