The Cardiff Blues have maintained that stars such as Jamie Roberts and Sam Warburton will still be at the club last season despite numerous players leaving the region this summer.

The Blues have already lost the likes of Gethin Jenkins, Casey Laulala, Dan Parks and Rhys Thomas to pastures and Welsh flyer Alex Cuthbert is reportedly in the Northampton Saints' sights.

And with the cross-Channel exodus picking up pace with Aled Brew and Luke Charteris set to ply their trade in the Top 14 next term, the Blues have issued a statement stating that players such as Leigh Halfpenny, Bradley Davies, Warburton and Roberts are not on the market.

"All teams have their life cycles and this is a new era for the Blues as we aim to build for the future with a young, exciting squad," Blues coach Justin Burnell told the Western Mail. "This season we have looked to integrate youngsters with the more established players such as Jamie Roberts, Leigh Halfpenny, Chris Czekaj, Sam Warburton and Bradley Davies, who are all in contract next season.

"Through our Academy structure we have developed some very promising players and we are also looking to bring one or two more players in to ensure we are once again competitive next season."
