Exeter Chiefs are facing an anxious wait on the fitness of their England winger Jack Nowell.
Nowell was forced off at half-time during their 45-15 loss to Leicester on Sunday and needs a second scan on the injury. "Nothing particularly has shown up yet but it looks a doubt that he'll be fit for this weekend," Rob Baxter told the Daily Mail. "He has to have another set of scans to assess fully what's going on around his shoulder and neck."
Exeter's West Country rivals Bath are also sweating on the fitness of one of their stars with Francois Louw set to miss Friday's game against Sale due to an ankle injury. Bath will look to Carl Fearns or Guy Mercer to fill the void.
"Francois has unfortunately rolled his ankle," Bath coach Toby Booth told the Bath Chronicle. "We need to get the swelling down before we get a full assessment from the scan. We can then be a bit more accurate about time but it's not going to be a week out, it's going to be a little bit longer than that.
"Fearnsy is around this weekend, which is great, so it's one in, one out. Guy Mercer has come on and played well and we've got Mat Gilbert and Dave Sisi out on loan, so we've got cover in that position."
