Gloucester fly-half Tim Taylor has retired from rugby.

Taylor, 31, made 41 appearances for Gloucester, scoring 171 points in the process, but a knee injury sustained during Gloucester's A-League semi-final against Harlequins has forced him to hang up his boots.

"When I first suffered the injury at The Stoop, I hoped to return but it hasn't been so," Taylor said. "I am so grateful to everyone at the club for their hard work in both my recovery and keeping me fit. It has been great to remain involved with the players and help out with kicking and skills coaching."

The news means Gloucester have lost all three of their fly-halves ahead of next season - Ryan Mills has signed for Worcester with Freddie Burns widely expected to be joining Leicester.
