Sale on verge of completing deal for No.8
October 17, 2013
Sale Sharks are closing in on the signing of an unnamed southern hemisphere back-rower.
Sale boss Steve Diamond has reportedly been keen to bolster their resources in the pack with a No.8 and has targeted one playing in the ITM Cup. According to Manchester Evening News, Sale have been linked with George Stowers and Villami Fihaki and even though Diamond would not name their potential new recruit, he admitted a deal was close.
Diamond told the newspaper: "The player in question is still playing in New Zealand as we speak but the visa application has gone in and as soon as that is complete he will join us, fingers crossed, at the beginning to the middle of November
"We had been looking for another back row player all summer and the guy that we identified is playing over in New Zealand in the ITM Cup and he comes highly-recommended from our contacts over there and we think we've got a good lad who will come in and add something to the squad."
