Ford kicks Sale to victory over French strugglers

Joe Ford scored 16 points on his debut as Sale eased to a 33-10 victory over a poor Biarritz side in the Challenge Cup at Salford.
Biarritz, who are rooted to the foot of the Top 14 table with only one win in nine matches, were always off the pace. Two penalties, a conversion and a drop goal from Ford put the home side ahead along with a first-half penalty try.
He extended Sale's 16-3 half-time lead with a third successful penalty and also kicked the conversion from Andrei Ostrikov's 49th-minute try, leaving the field on the hour to a standing ovation.
