London Welsh are hopeful that Gavin Henson will make his long-awaited debut against Stade Francais on October 13 in their Amlin Challenge Cup clash.
Henson fractured his cheekbone in a pre-season friendly at the Parc Y Scarlets against the Scarlets and has been sidelined ever since. He was the Exiles' premier signing over the summer as they prepared for their first season in the Aviva Premiership. But in Henson's absence, they have confounded the doubters with two wins out of their opening four matches.
Gordon Ross has started each of their four games at fly-half and they also have ex-Bath fly-half Ryan Davis on trial. "Gavin is training with us at the moment," head coach Lyn Jones told BBC Radio Wales. "He's back on the field and running around, but just no contact yet.
"He's going to be fit for contact on October 6 and he's going to be involved, probably, in our first Amlin game against Stade Francais. He's excited and we're all excited to have him back. We are just utilising him at the moment, and he's helping some of our back-three players improve their kicking and he's enjoying that responsibility."
