Harlequins fly-half Nick Evans scooped the prestigious Rugby Players' Association Player of the Year award with Owen Farrell completing an awards double with the Young Player of the Year gong at the end of season event on Wednesday night.
Evans has had another outstanding season for Quins and has been integral in their charge to the Aviva Premiership final. Evans pipped Quins team-mate Chris Robshaw and Northampton Saints' George Pisi to the award that is decided by Premiership players.
"I was very surprised and humbled to win this award, it's a great honour to be voted for by your fellow professionals," Evans said. "I was up against some fantastic players. Mike, Chris, Steve and George have all been outstanding this season and just to be nominated amongst that group is a huge honour in itself.
"Harlequins is a big machine and myself, Chris and Mike are all just small parts of that, we can't do our jobs unless everyone else in the team is doing theirs. I've got great respect and admiration for all the guys on the team and they've made my job easy this year and it's great to see so many Quins' players nominated. We've had a fantastic season so far and hopefully we can finish the job at Twickenham on Saturday."
Farrell scooped the Discovery of the Season award at the Aviva Premiership Rugby Awards earlier this month and has now added the RPA honour to his collection. Gloucester duo Jonny May and Freddie Burns finished second and third respectively. While Farrell is not competing in the Premiership final on Saturday, he looks set to play an integral part in England's three-Test tour to South Africa this summer.
"It's a massive honour just to be nominated never mind win this award, especially as it's voted for by your fellow professionals," Farrell said. "These are the guys you play against week in, week out and all you want to do is earn their respect. It's so humbling to win as you can receive all the praise in the world, but to earn this kind of accolade from other Premiership players is fantastic."
In other awards on the night, World Cup winner Jason Robinson was inducted to the Hall of Fame while Saracens second-row Hugh Vyvyan taking the Special Merit Award. England Sevens flyer Mat Turner took the Sevens Player of the Year while Ben Skirving won the Player Development Award.
The Sunday Times Try of the Year was awarded to Michael Claassens for the second year running for his sensational score against London Irish on New Year's Day.
