Profile

Lightning fast and with an eye for a break, Reddan went from strength to strength in winning a Heineken Cup and Guinness Premiership with Wasps, having jumped ship from Munster in 2005. The scrum-half won a call up to the Ireland squad for the 2006 Six Nations, having long been an example used by then Irish coach Eddie O'Sullivan's detractors of his unwillingness to select new talent.

Reddan's debut came in the 43-31 defeat to France, although he would have to wait until the summer tour to Argentina to secure his first start in an Irish shirt.

While Reddan again found himself on the fringes of the Ireland side in the 2007 Six Nations, he continued to develop at club level under the guidance of Shaun Edwards and Ian Mcgeechan. Edwards in particular, having been on of the great rugby league halfbacks, has had a positive influence upon Reddan's ability to defend and manage a game.

His development at club level culminated in a superb, try-scoring display during the 2007 Heineken Cup final at Twickenham. His performance helped Wasps to an emphatic 25-9 victory over old rivals Leicester Tigers.

Included in the Ireland squad for the 2007 World Cup, Reddan got his chance in place of Peter Stringer following Ireland's dreadful opening displays against minnows Namibia and Georgia. Reddan's sprightly displays were not enough to stop Ireland slipping to two defeats against France and Argentina and leaving the tournament early.

Reddan signed for Leinster in 2009, ending speculation that he may return to Munster, and subsequently battled Isaac Boss at provincial level. His move back to Ireland failed to initially endear him further to the Irish management, with their alleigances split by Munster's Tomas O'Leary, but his form remained strong. Against Scotland in the 2011 Six Nations he bagged a first Test try and kept O'Leary out of the side for their subsequent meeting with Wales.

Reddan retained the starting berth for the rest of the Six Nations and the build up to the World Cup but he was usurped by Conor Murray midway through the tournament. However, he regained the starting jersey midway through the 2012 Six Nations after Murray succumbed to injury.
