Profile

Juan Manuel Leguizamon made his international debut for Argentina against Japan in 2005, scoring a try to mark the occasion. An often flamboyant presence at the base of the scrum, Leguizamon enjoyed a spell in the Guinness Premiership with London Irish before following in the footsteps of fellow Pumas Juan Martin Hernandez, Agustin Pichot, Rodrigo Roncero and Ignacio Corleto to French Top 14 side Stade Francais.

His second cap came at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, when he helped the Pumas to a 25-25 draw with the British and Irish Lions. By the time of the 2007 Rugby World Cup Leguizamon had amassed 18 caps and had tested his mettle against the All Blacks and Springboks, and at the tournament he came in to his own.

With his tireless work-rate a stand-out factor in his tournament he helped the Pumas to a famous win against France in the opening game of the tournament, and scored two tries against Namibia. During the later stages of the tournament he fell behind the veteran Gonzalo Longo Elia in the pecking order, but post World Cup he has made the No.8 shirt his own.

He started both Tests against Scotland in the summer of 2008 before facing off against France, Italy and Ireland during the Pumas northern hemisphere tour in November.

Leguizamon will join Top 14 Orange newcomers Lyon from Stade for the 2011-12 season. However - his arrival at Lyon will be delayed due to him being named in the 30-man squad for the World Cup.
