Ireland prop Cian Healy will play not part in Leinster's RaboDirect PRO12 clash with Treviso on Saturday night.
Healey was handed a three-week ban earlier this week after being found guilty of stamping on England's Dan Cole during Ireland's 12-16 defeat in Dublin last Sunday. Disciplinary chiefs deferred his suspension by a week having been informed the player would not have been part of his province's plans this weekend. However, subsequent reports suggested that Leinster hoped to capitalise on that ruling by selecting the loose-head for their latest league outing.
But the disciplinary committee, chaired by Roger Morris, has today moved to clarify the situation by reiterating that Healy's suspension began from the date he was informed of his citing, which was Monday, and runs until March 10. As a result and as initially thought, Healy will miss Leinster's clash with their Italian rivals and Ireland's forthcoming games against Scotland and France.
A statement from Six Nations Rugby Limited said: "The disciplinary committee has not yet produced its written decision, but Mr Morris has today written to Six Nations Rugby Limited and those representing Mr Healy at the hearing to confirm the position."
"Mr Morris says, in relevant part: 'I do not think anyone present at the hearing on Wednesday was in any doubt that Mr Healy is not free to play again until after midnight on 10 March'."
