London Irish have announced the signing of young Welsh fly-half prospect Steven Shingler.

The 19-year-old will move to Irish on a two-year contract for the start of next season.

He scored 20 points for the Scarlets in an Anglo-Welsh Cup victory over the Exiles earlier this term, but has played most of his rugby in the Welsh Premiership with Llanelli RFC.

Irish head coach Toby Booth said: "Steven is a player with a huge amount of potential, and he will be a great attribute for our squad.

"We feel working with the coaching team here at London Irish will help to propel Steven to the next level of his game."
